A traditional we have held for many years is to have a dessert night the Friday after Thanksgiving with some dear friends . We do finger foods and way too many sweets. It has grown from 4 parents and our 18 kids (we each have 9) to our children’s spouses and the grandchildren too.
Years ago these friends invited us to visit them for the weekend on their ranch. While we were there we saw our farm and made our first offer to purchase it. We stayed with them every weekend for 9 months as we gutted and renovated our farmhouse. We have attended church with them, spent holidays with them, hunted and scrapbooked together, and camped together many times. We also take a “family picture” every time we are together. Today we had 32 in the picture. It’s been a good friendship filled with people we love dearly.
