As Christians we read scripture to give us a roadmap for our lives. Not everything in scripture was said to us. Often we learn by observing the situation and instructions Christ gave to others. Through these conversations we gain great insight on how we are to conduct ourselves as ones who are Christ followers. One of these areas in scripture is called The Great Commission.
Matthew 28: 16-20
16 Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Christ is giving these instructions to the remaining 11 disciples after his own resurrection. We can however see the importance of his words and apply them to our lives. We each need to share the good news of the gospel. We have a hurting world that needs the hope of Christ.
Is it hard to share the gospel? Or should I ask, “Why is it hard to share the gospel?”
Do we believe it? Do we truly believe those around us NEED Jesus? Do we believe in judgement? I know most people say they do… but many aren’t really sure it exists. They aren’t sure they want to risk comfort, acceptance, and the ease of this world.
Maybe they hope someone else will share the good news of Christ. Have you ever been given the opportunity and yet you walked away knowing you missed your chance?
I can honestly say I have. Many times, I have felt a prompting from the Father to speak boldly, yet for some reason I didn’t obey.
Losing Millie has brought heaven so much closer in my life. It has helped me see how quickly my opportunity to share may be taken away. It has prompted me to follow through even when I am uncomfortable.
However, when you start to speak boldly, Satan wants to take you out. He wants to shut you up. He wants to take your focus off of God and place it squarely on YOURSELF. Just as he tempted Eve to think of herself in the garden or Christ to think of himself in the wilderness, he hopes to get you to think of yourself rather than bringing others to the saving grace of Christ.
Right now, David and I are under heavy attack. As the enemy attempts to destroy us he is aiming heavily for our children. We are praying a hedge of protection around each of them. Millie is safe in the arms of Jesus, but the other 8 are here on earth fighting the fight every day. He is battling for the heart of our family, but we are claiming the blood of Christ over each one. If you are feeling like you are in a similar battle for your family, please join me in praying:
“Father in heaven, we ask that you place a hedge of protection around our family. We ask that you extinguish the fiery darts being sent to destroy us. We ask you, Father, to cradle us in your bosom protecting us from the enemy. Rise up our children to be mighty men and women after your heart. People who love and serve you, oh Lord. Fill them with wisdom, making them wise as serpents and gentle as doves. Lord, we need your guiding hand in our lives. Bring to light sin, heal hearts with humble repentance, forgive us where we have sinned against you, ease our sorrow, oh Holy Lord. We pray this in the name of Jesus our savior”.
{Because of Millie}
Blessings sweet friends…
